building your ideal space - getting cozy with @menguinys

a peek into their cozy space
your space is very cozy with lots of warm and bright colours! how do you approach creating a cozy atmosphere at your desk and what's your inspiration?
my space is curated with things that bring me joy! if i had to describe it, my setup is filled with my favorite colors, little trinkets, and lots of ambient lighting. i created a comfy atmosphere by surrounding myself with pieces i love and things that make me happy. a lot of my inspiration comes from my favorite cafes and places i’ve visited. i’m also really inspired by spring - especially colors like peachy pinks, soft yellows, and sage green. to me, a cozy setup isn’t about specific items or decor, but rather the feeling it gives you. if it makes you feel warm, happy, and comfortable, then that’s what truly makes it special.
getting into content creation
just like your setup, your content feels very personal and inviting. can you walk us through how you go about planning and filming your videos?
usually, i start with a general vibe or idea and then let it evolve as i film. lately i’ve been having fun experimenting with different shots like POV angles, wide shots, and top-downs. if i want to add more storytelling to the video, i’ll quickly record a voiceover. i don’t really script things unless it’s for longer youtube videos because i like keeping it flexible and creative. i film everything on my sony zv-e1, which has been one of my favorite investments ever. and after filming, i spend the most time picking music. i feel like the right audio can completely set the mood of a video.
how do you balance work and relaxation when your cozy space is also your workspace?
that’s definitely something i’m still figuring out! working from home makes it tricky, but i’ve learned that setting boundaries helps a lot like giving myself a cut-off time. i also change into comfy clothes once i’m done working. it sounds simple, but it really helps me switch from “work mode” to “relax mode.”
growing with a community
the keeb and cozy community is constantly growing on social media. how did you find your unique style in a niche that's getting more popular?
i think the key is leaning into whatever makes your approach special and letting that shine in the keeb and cozy community. each creator in the niche has something they do well - whether it be sound tests, aesthetic unboxings, etc. personally, i really enjoy connecting the product to the vibe it gives off. when i filmed content for the matcha play75 keyboard, i wanted it to feel like drinking matcha, a vibe that’s refreshing and calming. with the sakura play75 keyboard, i wanted to capture springtime lightness and the beauty of sakura blooms. that’s the kind of storytelling i love.
is there a dream project you've been wanting to tackle? we'd love to know about your aspirations!
i’d love to design my own desk setup accessories one day! whether that’s through a collab or on my own. desk setups and keebs are such a big part of what I love, so being able to create something that others could enjoy in their own spaces would be amazing.
how did you first get into keebs, desk accessories and decor?
back in 2021, i decided to gift myself my first keyboard for my birthday. it was the mint green keychron q1. i’d been eyeing it for a while, saved up, and finally ordered it. when it arrived, i took a few photos of it with my setup and sent them to a friend who was also into keyboards. he suggested i post it on my personal page, and my friends loved it! pretty soon, my setup was reposted by a bunch of tech pages and even by keychron themselves. the setup community was very supportive and i was immediately inspired! that moment made me realize how much i enjoyed sharing, so i started a dedicated account for my setup, and everything grew from there.
you're always letting people know the best products to look out for. do you have a favourite setup featuring our products? if so, please tell!
lately, i’ve been using my sakura play75 nonstop. it’s such a gorgeous keyboard and it features my favorite color, pink. i’m also a big fan of the year of the rabbit keycaps and deskmat. that drop was honestly one of my all-time favorites. for my daily setup, i use osume’s classic deskmat in sheer pink. the color is so soft and beautiful, and it ties my whole desk together.
the cozy space prides themselves on being a wholesome bunch. what has been your favourite memory or interaction with your community?
everyone in the cozy space is honestly just so sweet and thoughtful. when i first started my page, penguins were a big part of my setup (that’s actually where the name menguiny came from). it kind of became this little mascot for my page. anytime my mutuals came across something penguin-related, they’d tag me or send it to me like, “this reminded me of you!” even now, they still do it, and it always makes me smile. it’s those little gestures that feel so heartwarming.
