a glimpse into their workspace
your space is such a perfect mix of airy and cozy with lots of adorable easter eggs! how did you decide on an overall desk aesthetic, and what inspired it?
it actually took a while to discover which aesthetic truly reflects me. i spent a few years experimenting with different decor styles and colour palettes before creating a space that i truly resonated with.
i was inspired by the warmth and coziness of wooden elements in a japandi design style but also combining it with cool toned minimalism for a more refined overall look.
getting into content creation
not only is your space beautiful, but your editing style is so pleasing to look at! what does your process look like when creating content and how did you settle on a filming/editing style?
i usually start by visualizing and storyboarding my content prior to filming to guide the overall direction. though i typically like to plan it ahead of time, i like to stay flexible and let my creativity flow, so i end up filming some spontaneous shots as well!
as for editing and filming style, i wanted to create content that feels like a breath of fresh air when you look at it. naturally, i gravitated towards a brighter editing style while still incorporating warm and cozy elements.
do you have any tips for shooting content like yours for someone looking to start their own page?
everyone starts from somewhere so i think it’s okay to get some inspiration from other creators! but ultimately, translating that inspiration into your own lens and seeing the end result of your own creativity, just feels so much more rewarding. don’t be afraid to experiment! it might take a lot of trial and error to find out what you really like, but that’s what makes content creation so fun.
into their osume journey
what drew you into the world of keyboards, tech, and desk decor?
like the majority of people in the cozy gaming community, it all began when i was stuck in my room during the pandemic and spent a lot of time gaming on my switch!
after being in the same environment for so long, i thought, why not turn my space into something cute and cozy? so i bought the cheapest monitor i could find, a small monitor stand, and a $50 plastic mechanical keyboard. before i knew it, i was hooked — and now we’re here!
before becoming an employee, or even an affiliate, what about osume stood out to you?
when i first learnt about mechanical keyboards, i noticed that most of the design and aesthetics of it leaned towards a more traditionally masculine style — darker themes and typefaces that didn’t quite resonate with me.
osume really stood out to me because of the clean and minimal design. the colour combinations were also a big draw for me, as they felt more soft and thoughtfully curated, which was something that aligned much more with my personal aesthetic and what i wanted my setup to reflect.
we’d love to hear more about the process of you joining the osume team! what was it like and how did you get to this point?
i started my content creation journey only 2 years ago. i worked in marketing full time for another company, so content creation was just a way to share my cozy hobbies for fun.
i wasn't confident with videography, but eventually decided to give it a try. it was a learning curve for me, but in the end i managed to learn and translate shots into my own style. soon after, i applied to be an affiliate and got accepted! after a while, osume reached out to me to temporarily create content for them and a few months later, i joined their marketing team full time!
it hasn't been too long since i started working for osume, but it still feels unreal to be working for one of my dream companies. i’m still learning a lot everyday, and continuously working on improving both old and new skill sets. luckily, the osume team has been such a pleasure to work with. they’ve created such a supportive, inspiring environment that makes it easy to grow, take creative risks and truly feel like a valued part of something special.
as our designated content creator, you’ve tried out every single one of our products. do you have any favourites or recommendations for people to check out?
every time a new product comes out, i feel like it takes the center stage for a while since everything is so beautifully designed! the team puts so much thought and care into creating these products, that i try to take my time to truly appreciate each product that i work with.
lately, i’ve been putting the various colours of the classic deskmat in rotation. i work on my desk everyday, so having a deskmat that’s pleasing to look at + easy to clean is a must!
my current favourite combo lately have been the classic deskmat in storm navy + night market keycaps on a navy board and the classic deskmat in pale dust + café keycaps (with the brown accents) on a beige board.
if someone wanted to create their own setup with a similar feel as yours, what do you recommend looking for when selecting items?
my first rule is to find your colour palette, then look around the house with what you can repurpose! before i redesign a space, i try to think of what items and furniture i currently have to achieve the look i want. i personally think there’s no need to be spending a lot when it comes to starting out.
my favourite shelves and desk items are items i’ve had since i was in university — you’d be surprised at how versatile your old furniture can be once they’re styled!
