keyboard quality & care

quality

overview

we strive to deliver custom mechanical keyboards of the highest quality. however, due to the intricacies of manufacturing and finishing processes, certain minor imperfections may occur. below are the quality standards and acceptable flaws customers should be aware of:

colour & finish

due to the different chemical formulas used to create specific colors, texture variations or minor differences in shade may occur. these variations are not defects but a result of the unique manufacturing process.

brass & metal components

brass weights and other exposed metal parts may accumulate fingerprints or patina over time due to natural oxidation. this is normal and can often be polished to restore the finish.

scratches, nicks, marks

slight scratches, dents, or blemishes on the interior of the keyboard case or weight are part of the manufacturing process and do not affect the overall functionality or aesthetics of the assembled keyboard. these are considered acceptable.

certain machining marks or e-coat & anodization inconsistencies may be present on areas that are not visible during regular use (e.g., interior surfaces). these marks are considered part of the manufacturing process and are acceptable.

seams & assembly

seam lines along the edges of the keyboard may have minor variances due to machining and finishing tolerances. these are expected and considered normal for custom keyboards.

acceptance of keyboard quality

custom mechanical keyboards are crafted using precise but inherently imperfect processes. minor flaws that do not affect the functionality, durability, or overall aesthetic of the keyboard are considered acceptable. by purchasing a custom keyboard, you acknowledge these guidelines and the nature of handmade and small-batch manufacturing.

care

cleaning

for regular cleaning, use a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth to gently wipe down the keyboard to remove dust and fingerprints. avoid using abrasive materials like paper towels, rough cloths, or scrub pads, which can scratch the surface.

for stains or smudges, dampen a microfiber cloth with a small amount of water or a mild soap solution. wipe the surface gently and dry it immediately with a clean, dry cloth.

avoid harsh chemicals. do not use alcohol, acetone, ammonia, or other harsh cleaning agents on the exterior surface as they can dull or damage the keyboard finish.

sun damage

avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. direct exposure to uv light overtime may cause slight fading or discolouration. keep your keyboard out of the direct sunlight when not in use.

liquid spillage

if liquid spillage occurs, please unplug the keyboard and place the keyboard upside down, allowing it to settle for a few days. remove the keycaps if possible to expose switches.

for water or non-sticky liquids, dab the keyboard with a lint-free cloth or paper towel to absorb any excess moisture. it is recommended to use a can of compressed air to blow out any remaining liquid from switches or crevices.

for sticky liquids, use isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and a cotton swab to clean the affected areas, especially the switches and PCB. alcohol evaporates quickly and helps dissolve residue.
